Development of New Drafting System for Jute Drawing
In Short:
IJIRA has developed a roller drafting finisher drawing system with simplified design for ease of operation and maintenance while efficient enough to control fibre movement in the drafting zone. The machine is high productive, occupies less floor space and having low maintenance cost. It has been estimated that there is a saving of Rs. 25000/day in a 100MT/day jute mill.
In Detail:
Present situation of the Indian Jute Industry demands high productive, energy efficient jute processing machinery with upgraded technology which can able to produce cost-effective better-quality jute products with rationalization of man power through automation, wherever possible.
The most common and widely used Jute Screw Gill (SG) finisher draw-frames have possibly reached an optimum level of performance with respect to productivity, though the delivery speed is quite low (160 fpm). Increase in the running speed of the jute screw gill finisher draw-frames with prevailing drafting system might not be possible as it would lead to considerable increase in machine breakdowns, maintenance cost and poor sliver quality.
To overcome the technical limits of the existing screw gill jute drawing frames, IJIRA has developed a roller drafting finisher drawing system with simplified design for ease of operation and low maintenance while efficient enough to control fibre movement in the drafting zone. With the extensive field trial in mill shop floor at industrial condition, it has been found that the quality of the sliver and resulting yarn has been maintained even with high delivery speed of 450 fpm in roller drafting system.
Commercialization Status:
The development has been commercialized and taken up by jute machine manufacturer for commercial production.
