Jute fibre undergoes series of machinery and stages for production of jute fabric. One of an important stage is spinning. A special spinning frame used for jute yarn manufacturing in conventional jute mills called as Slip Draft Spinning frames, which is a fully gear driven machine and power transmitted from motor to the cylinder through conventional motor and machine pullies through belt. There are several manufacturers of this machine available in the market, but the basic and general features are remaining same in last 100 years. A electrical motor is used for running the machine which is normally of capacity 15 HP or 20 HP.
IJIRA have initiated a controller based Electro-mechanical system for the jute spinning frames named as Easy Draft System. Using the system the draft (ratio of two rollers – retaining / feed and drawing / delivery) of spinning frames can be changed just pushing a button. This will ensure less stoppage time of the spinning frame for changing the Draft Change Pinion (D.C.P.) and there will be no requirement of mechanical fitter to change the D.C.P. (The draft is used to control the weight per unit length of a yarn or we may explain it that draft applied to spinning frames decides the fineness of a yarn). IJIRA supply a customized controller to control the whole operation.

An additional motor with a mechanical system will replace 6 gears/ pinions including the Draft Change Pinion which reduces the load on machine as well as inventory of store. Hence the system will also reduce energy consumption of the spinning frames and the savings of energy cost will be around Rs. 5000/- KW/H per year per frame.
Replace of DCP by electronic system also ensure engagement of mechanical fitter to change draft of a machine and also reduces the production loss takeout the old DCP and to fit the required one. Quality of yarn can be adjusted within few seconds by any SQC staff.
